Cool videos
Possibly the best Ford commercial ever, Ford Sync - Objects is hilarious.
Treadmill On... (Ungh!)
Blinds Close... (Cover your eyes!)
Door Open... (Ka-Squish!)
Not everything responds to your voice like Sync....
One of my coworkers just got a new Focus with Sync, he says it rocks hard, he actually didn't order the car with it, but now they'll get it away from him when they pry it out of his cold dead fingers. I can borrow his, but also want to go down to the dealer and check it out... official site at syncmyride.com, feel free to contact me if you want a friends & family discount.

We also need the Trunk Monkey (pediatric edition). Hey Shane, next time you're in Sandy, OR, pick up free trunk monkey gear. I wonder if trunk monkey is compatible with Sync?

Oddly, they also have a video of "Everyone Else Has Had More Sex Than Me" by TISM.  "Greg! The Stop Sign!!" is also very good.

I'm banking on it coming before
my end of year exam.

We were about to order a Focus, and we had to get SYNC to get a cruise control (believe it or not) but they weren't going to be building any 08 focuses with SYNC until January or later, unless you ordered the "punk moron" package (spoiler, chrome exhaust tips, low profile "please destroy these expensive rims next time I hit a pothole" tires, etc). So we bought a Fusion instead.

I can't believe the guy who got the Focus ordered the ricer package, he has a wife and 4 kids and was trying to save on money... I think it was like $4 a month extra on his lease so he didn't order it. Bad that they're confused though.

Does your Fusion have Sync? You can't go far wrong with a Fusion, considering the fantastic quality & customer satisfaction numbers it has been getting, and that or a used Lincoln version of the same thing is what Asya wants. Hope you like it!

It doesn't have Sync. I would opt out of it if at all possible. It's a lot of crap we don't need, I refuse to use a phone while the car is moving, and I've never had a problem finding a needed control in a fraction of a second once I learn the car, so I'm not sure that it's useful for anything except impressing the natives.

It only comes standard on certain Lincolns, I believe.

You're unusually self-controlled, John... I think you have a point that talking even on hands-free is a slight distraction, but for me, it would be a positive safety feature, my hands-free dialing isn't as good as Sync, plus there's an advantage to automatically turning down the radio and answering hands-free. I'll usually just hand my phone to Asya if she's in the car when it rings, but the way Sync works seems even better.

Perhaps the radio/iPod/USB music features aren't for you, or maybe you're just crotchety! (I love that word... and I like to be crotchety too! Bah, humbug! Hmm... or is that Cratchity?) I think some of the version 2 & 3 features are going to be even cooler.

There's a line-in which I appreciate; in fact I plan on adding that to my 97 Taurus next time I feel like tearing out the center console (maybe next summer). I saw some mention of a USB port; I wouldn't mind having one to charge from rather than taking up the power point in the console. Does it do anything else? I have seen some cigarette lighter thingies at Wal*Mart for $25 that have a USB slot in them, and if you plug in a thumb drive, they'll play any MP3s they find through its FM transmitter.

I suppose hands-free would be not too bad, but I don't use my phone enough to justify even having a headset. I don't even use 5 minutes a month. It's been several years since I've had a cell phone conversation that's lasted more than 90 seconds.

Those TISM videos were a riot. So, is it a good think or a bad thing that we don't actually wear numbers on our chests?

We don't? So that's why I never figured out how to do speed dating!
